During my sophomore year of college I began experimenting with an expanded and vibrant color palette. I was drawn to the use of various color schemes, given the way specific colors influence our emotional states at conscious and subconscious levels. I am strongly influenced by the Psychedelic Movement, incorporating intense and vibrant color vibrations with rounded shapes that began to be used in the 1960s. The word Psychedelic is derived from the ancient Greek words, translated as “reveal the mind,” My work is a mix of oil paint markers over dry acrylic paint. Merging my drawing hand with my painting hand, I ultimately create for self-expression, but hope the viewer is drawn to my work by the vibrations of bright colors.
