Lou Hemler
As a maker Iām constantly asking myself how art can serve as a builder of bonds. My practice is a devotion to the interconnectedness I know to be a deep truth of this existence. Each piece I create is a culmination of the wonderment and experimentation that arises from the combination of a scientifically geared mind and a spiritually guided heart.
My current work draws a link between our loss of connection to the inner self and the loss of societal connection to nature. As the image of a person dissolves, an abstracted figure is revealed, just as a topical separation keeping humans from relating intimately with nature can crumble. As these barriers are broken down, new growth occurs that has the ability to sustain more bountiful relationships.
