I engender a nurturing world that enforces the symbiotic relationship between body and environment. Through my work, I attempt to ground my familial history, which is nonphysical, to a material history that is, to try to answer who, why and how am I me? I equate geological processes as a kind of lineage, like my own so a rock can be a representation of myself. Biologically we are similar, just different variations and compositions of the same material. Then instead of asking “how am I me?”, a better question to ask is how am I not a rock? Through acts of labor via photography, I place my body back into nature by showcasing our shared ability to break down. By seeing ourselves in nature, this allows for a shift from our gluttonous relationship with our environment towards a symbiotic one.
