Trinity Russell

In my work for my thesis, there is a very clear aspect of combining and utilizing different media and modes of art-making, most notably the use of spray paint and other aerosol products. In trying to move away from traditional methods of painting, I combine imagery in the same way a collage artist would, by building a ground and combining found imagery, layering one image on top of the other. In recent works, there’s been a heavy emphasis on text and language as I try to blur the line between language and image. This started as a way to collect the thoughts and ideas being shown, presented or shared in the work. This is important because in the making, my works are constantly changing and evolving, being mostly pushed by process rather than full-rounded narratives.
