Art is not about what we see, it is about how it makes us feel and think. It brings us back to our most memorable moments as children when we could express ourselves using different colors, shapes, patterns, textures, etc. However, as I reflect on what art truly means to me, I realize that it is everything and more than what I could imagine. Art has taken me to places where I have never been before; it has helped me reach limits that I thought were impossible to reach. However, there are moments where I tend to lose myself working on a project where small details can make it or break it. I have come to realize that no one is going to care about what I make if I don't care about it. Every time I make my artwork, I try to make something that I care about, and like about it as well. The true meaning of art is not only expressing our feelings or thoughts, but also how we can honor those who helped us get to where we are today. In my artwork I honor my Peruvian heritage, the Incas. They are the reason we have Machu Picchu, Cuzco, the Nazca Lines, and so much more. Not only did my ancestors leave us a legacy that will forever live on in history and the monuments they left behind; they gave me and 33 million other Peruvians a reason to love, appreciate and aspire to the artwork that was left behind. My culture has influenced the way I see and do my artwork. In order to achieve my end goal of creating the artwork that I have in mind.
