Dacota Messer

Behind my work is a longing for a home that no longer exists or never was. I create imagery based on a mix of perception and reality. I enjoy the parts of the world that show signs of life but simultaneously lack evidence of current life. I am interested in the idea of fixing and rebuilding these places; not to their former glory, but instead into a new and improved place. At the same time, I am not interested in realist and/or representational image making. I have been exploring how color, shape, and composition work together to create a moment in time. I use these components to create an abstract landscape which reflects this imaginary placer it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
