Muir Chiaravalle
My photographs are about several things.
Foremost, they are about storytelling: the stories I tell myself, and the narratives we invent in the things we see. They are about mismatched details: fantasy characters in suburban settings, and an adult playing childish games of dress-up, the confluence of childhood and adulthood. They are about being an autistic nonbinary lesbian, loneliness, and my struggles to connect with others.
I don’t want to decide for people what the photographs mean, or what is supposed to be happening in them. I do hope, however, that people who see them ask lots of questions, and find the answers themselves.
